Adriaan de Wit (1952)
is a Dutch-Austrian pianist, composer, vocal coach and photographer.
Adriaan de Wit studied in Amsterdam and Salzburg piano, harpsichord, conducting and chamber music.
He has performed as soloist and partner of many well-known singers and instrumentalists:
Renata Tebaldi, Hans Zomer, Roberta Alexander, Edda Moser, Kai Moser, Camilla Nylund, Elisabeth Schwarzkopf, Vlach Quartett Prag, Giovanni Quartett Salzburg, Rudolf Barshai, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Roger Norrington, among others on many major stages in Europe:
Salzburg Festival, Mozart Woche Salzburg, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Gasteig München, de Doelen Rotterdam, Musikverein Vienna.
He was a member of the Camerata Salzburg and the Österreichisches Ensemble für Neue Musik.
Adriaan de Wit wrote several operas, chamber music, songs and commercial music.
His main operas are:
"Judith und Holofernes" (Libretto: Waltraut Rainer-Thiel) - premiere 1993
"Icarus" (Libretto: Paola Moretti) - premiere 1998
"Die Kavaleristin" (Libretto: Marianne Figl) - premiere 2012
Adriaan de Wit was since 1984 associated with the famous Mozarteum in Salburg as a piano teacher, vocal coach and head of the vocal department for more than thirty years.
An accident in which his left wrist broke meant the end of his pianist career.
Since 2015 he works as a fine art photographer and lives in Bad Radkersburg, Austria.
